Onion Rings

3—4 onions
½ tsp. salt
1 egg 1 c. flour
½ tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk

Slice onions ¼ inch. Separate into rings. Soak in ice water for 2 hours. Drain and dry. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl. Dip onions in batter. Fry in hot, deep fat until brown.
